Karlee Markarian
BS in Dance '13
Karlee Markarian is a graduate of Drexel University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance in 2013. She currently works as a full-time Pilates instructor and studio manager at The Balance Room, building a career rooted in movement, connection, and helping others feel more at home in their bodies. Karlee completed the 450+ hour Drexel Pilates Training program in 2012, and has taught movement to Philadelphians of all ages!
With over a decade of experience as a movement teacher, Karlee brings a thoughtful and personalized approach to her work. Her background in dance informs her eye for detail and alignment, while her own experience using Pilates to manage chronic back pain deepens her empathy and understanding of her clients’ needs. She is especially passionate about helping individuals move out of pain, build strength, and develop a more positive relationship with their bodies.
In addition to teaching, Karlee plays a key role in shaping the studio environment as a manager, fostering a space that feels welcoming, supportive, and approachable. Known for her upbeat energy and ability to connect with clients, she strives to make movement both effective and enjoyable.
Looking ahead, Karlee is continuing to expand her knowledge in fitness and wellness, with goals of deepening her expertise and exploring new ways to support others through movement and education.
